The Yamuna Expressway, popularly referred to as the Taj Expressway, is a 165.5 km long access-controlled motorway that links Agra, the location of the nation's most revered landmark, the Taj Mahal, with Delhi, the capital city. Akhilesh Yadav, the UP chief minister at the time, officially opened the Yamuna Expressway on August 9, 2012. It is a six-lane access-controlled motorway with numerous large bridges, lengthy flyovers, and seven interchanges.
When the expressway was opened, there was less traffic on the NH-2, which allowed for a two and a half hour journey time from Delhi to Agra or vice versa.
This amazing endeavor was started by Akhilesh Yadav via video conferencing from his home in Lucknow. Yamuna Expressway boasts impressive features like CCTV surveillance, an Intelligent Transport System for protection and accident assistance, mobile radars to ensure that speed limits are maintained, and a highway patrol stationed every 25 kilometers, making it one of India's most advanced highways.
An interchange will connect the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
22 August 2023: Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway travel times will soon be 20 minutes shorter. By building an interchange, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) would connect the Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway Jaganpur Afzalpur hamlet.
Long planned, the construction of an interchange was shelved because of a disagreement between the Yamuna Expressway authorities and farmers.
The desire from farmers was for residential plots close to the freeway. Nevertheless, Sector 25 plots were being offered by the highway administration. Now that the two parties have worked out their differences, construction will shortly start. The expressway was to be built for Rs 80 crores over the course of 18 months after the tenders were approved.
Residential plots close to the expressway will now be available from Yamuna Expressway Authority. Three hundred and fifty farmers will receive the plots, which will be distributed over an area of about 77 hectares.
The Yamuna Expressway (Taj Expressway), a six-lane highway that spans 165.5 km and passes via Mathura and Aligarh, links Delhi and Agra. The 210 kilometers between Delhi and Agra can now be traveled in only around 2.5 hours thanks to the construction of this route. It used to take roughly one hour to complete the trip. The residential project on Yamuna Expressway reduced traffic on the Old GT Road and National Highway-2 while simultaneously establishing a smooth channel for vehicles heading down to the cities and Eastern side of the Yamuna.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) completed the expressway in three phases at a cost of Rs. 12,839 crores (USD 1.6 billion). Jaypee Infratech Limited was given the contract.
Phase I: An expressway connecting the projected Taj International Aviation Hub (situated near Jewar hamlet on the southern point of Gautam Budh Nagar District) with Greater Noida.
Phase 2: Building a highway to connect the projected Taj International Aviation Hub to a spot halfway between Agra and the Aviation Hub.
Phase 3: Agra and the midway site are connected by an expressway. Route Map of Yamuna Expressway (Taj Expressway).
The Yamuna Expressway has significantly improved access to several significant Uttar Pradesh cities. It starts at the Pari Chowk in Noida and ends at Kuberpur in Agra on National Highway-2. Additionally, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, may be reached more quickly because to the expressway's connection to the 302-km Agra Lucknow Expressway via the inner Agra Ring Road.
Yamuna Expressway will eventually be connected to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (also known as the Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal Expressway) by means of an interchange that is currently being built close to the village of Jaganpura - Afzalpur, which is located along the expressway in the Gautam Budh Nagar district.
With a combined length of 168 kilometers, 13 service roads are planned to guarantee convenient access to the Taj expressway. Numerous amenities have also been proposed, including parking-filled rest spaces, shelters, restrooms, gas stations, coffee shops, restaurants, and motels. Plantations and landscaping have also been suggested for reasons related to the ecology, safety, and aesthetics. To increase safety, SOS booths and CCTV cameras have been placed along the highway.
By Bus: There are frequently over 100 buses that go between these two destinations. You can take a private bus or the interstate bus that leaves from Anand Vihar ISBT in Delhi and travels to Agra. The trip usually takes three hours and twenty minutes.
By Car: The drive from Agra to Delhi is roughly 240 kilometers. With a top speed limit of 80 kmph, the Yamuna Expressway spans over 165 kilometers. It will only take you two and a half hours to go to the city of Agra if you travel nonstop at the fastest possible speed. The quickest and most efficient route from Agra to Delhi is by this route.
By Train: The 12049 Gatimaan Express is the fastest train that runs between Agra and New Delhi. It takes this train one hour and forty-five minutes to reach New Delhi. Around 19:30, the train arrives in New Delhi NDLS from Agra AGC, where it departs at 17:45. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday is when the 12049 Gatimaan Exp runs.
By Air: It takes about 180 miles to travel by air from Agra to Delhi. There are several of flights that run from Delhi to Agra. Air India's early flights arrive at the airport in Agra via Varanasi. The trip usually takes one hour and twenty minutes.
Investing in real estate along the Yamuna Expressway is profitable for a number of reasons.
Good Interconnectivity The Yamuna Expressway, which connects to the Agra Ring Road, starts at the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The NCR towns of Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Gurgaon, Rohtak Manesar, and Sonipat in Haryana, will be able to communicate with each other thanks to this link. The Yamuna Expressway will save travel time and distance by establishing a direct connection between some of the bigger cities, including Lucknow, Gwalior, and Kanpur.
Options for cheap homes: With an estimated 500 crore rupee investment from YEIDA, the Samajwadi Awas Scheme and MIG Scheme should greatly improve access to cheap homes along the Yamuna Expressway. The majority of the residences in the region were 2 BHK and 3 BHK. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) plans to build an aeropolis alongside the Yamuna Expressway near Jewar's Noida airport. 6,554 hectares will be covered by this development.
Infrastructure Advantage: In the near future, the development of social infrastructure along the Expressway near Gautam Buddha University is anticipated to turn the area into a dependable residential location. In order to increase tourism, an international airport is also being considered. It will be connected to the Taj Expressway (Yamuna Expressway).
The building of a film city is approved by the Uttar Pradesh government and would be situated in Gautam Buddh Nagar's sector-21, close to the Yamuna Expressway. The nation's sole Formula One Circuit is located on Yamuna Expressway. A tennis court complex, a cricket stadium, and a multipurpose stadium are also planned.
Commercial and Industrial Boom: There will be a significant increase in both commercial and industrial development in the Yamuna Expressway corridor.
April 20, 23: Yamuna Expressway traffic would be lessened with the construction of a new expressway between Ghaziabad and Kanpur. The trip from Ghaziabad to Kanpur will take three hours instead of six thanks to the freeway. The detailed project report (DPR) is to be submitted shortly, at the request of the Union Road and Transport Highways ministry. The Yamuna Expressway or Taj Expressway will see less traffic as soon as this corridor is operational.
The Ghaziabad-Kanpur highway was announced in 2019 by Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Highways and Transportation. This highway will have four lanes, with the option to expand to six in the future if necessary. Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, and Unnao are the districts that are connected. By the end of 2023, land will be acquired; the expressway's construction could take up to two years to finish.
March of 2023: The Yamuna Expressway is slated to be expanded by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The decision to clear the expressway and make room for the growing volume of traffic was made by the authority. For commuters, the 165 km Yamuna Expressway expansion would also result in shorter travel times. The Yamuna Expressway will go from having six lanes to eight lanes, according to the authority's plans. The contract requires the toll operator to raise the number of lanes on the highway from six to eight due to a significant increase in vehicle traffic.
There are now 32,000 more cars on the road every day. As a result, Jaypee Infratech Limited has been asked by YEIDA to prepare a thorough project study for the extension over the next three to four months. JIL has also been requested to raise the median height in order to stop accidents from happening again.
Conclusion
In Delhi-NCR, the Yamuna Expressway is a highly sought-after real estate district with a wide range of options for investors and buyers. It travels 165 miles, via Aligarh and Mathura, from Greater NOIDA to Agra.
Along the roadway, a number of prominent developers are interested in building different residential communities and commercial buildings. Therefore, Yamuna Expressway is your best bet if you're seeking for a great investment area with lots of growth potential.
