TNEB New Connection In Tamil Nadu Electricity Service-If you are a resident of Tamil Nadu and plans to buy a new home in the state, then for that new home you have to apply for a new electricity connection. The dedicated Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd which is also known as TANGEDCO manages all the TNEB new connection in the state. 

In a recent update that was announced, TANGEDCO has declared that the prospective applicant would need to submit the completion certificate of the building. Only then he will be able to get the permanent electricity connection.

Documents Required for TNEB New Service Connection

There are some documents that are essentially required for new TNEB connections such as:

• Property tax receipts.
• Certified copy of proof of ownership of the property, such as sale deed.
• If the applicant is not the property’s owner, a consent letter from the owner in Form 5 format or valid proof of occupancy and indemnity bond in Form 6 are required.
• If the applicant requires a load of more than 112KW, he/she needs to scan the undertaking form and submit the PDF.

Steps To Apply For TNEB New Connection

The few simple steps to apply for a new connection and submit the form mentioned below:

• Firstly, visit the official TANGEDCO portal and then click on ‘Apply’ button for New EB Connection.

• Now, select your district, circle and area for new electricity connection.

• Choose the category of required supply, wiring date, select the phase of supply required and fill up the mandatory load details.

• Once it is done, it’s time to upload all the requisite documents, such as identity proof, proof of ownership and the completion certificate issued by the local body/corporation. Please Note that residential buildings of up to 12 metres with less than three units are free from providing completion certificate submission.
• After the application of New Connection TNEB is completed, an application reference number will be generated, which should be noted for future purposes. It will used to make online payment.

Things To Know About TANGEDCO

• There is no need for hard copies with the application as all the documents are uploaded online.
• In case of multi-storeyed buildings, industrial, commercial buildings except the domestic category, the hard copies of the signed application and self-certified documents are required to be submitted before supply begins.
• For residential building up to 12 metres in height or 750 sq m and all type of industrial buildings, there is no need for submitting the completion certificate.

The online payment system at TNEB for New EB Connection, the applicant will use application reference number as the username and mobile number as the password.

Step 1: Visit the official TANGEDCO website. 

Step 2: Then, go to Billing Services > Bill Status.

Step 3: Now, on the next page for EB New Connection, you will be required to enter details, such as Service Number (that is mentioned in the bill) and mobile number. 

Step 4: After that, from the drop-down list select the region. 

Step 5: Enter the captcha code and hit on ‘Proceed’ option.
